This is one of my favorite winter looks! I just love a cozy oversized sweater that doesn’t literally swallow you. The balloon sleeves are cinched at the wrist which makes it so much easier to put your coat on or take it off which I do constantly throughout the day. I like to take my coat off when I get in the car but obviously, need to put it back on when I’m out of the car so sleeves that don’t require a special way to put on my coat quickly make it to my favorites!
I also like to maintain somewhat of a shape with an oversized sweater which is where I think some people get a little carried away. There are definitely some images out there of people (bloggers/ influencers) wearing super oversized sweaters and it looks amazing, but will you always hold the bottom of our sweater or pose the way they are in the image? We have to be considerate of everyday wear outside of an image, and honestly, there is such thing as too oversized. I can maintain a comfortable yet clean look when an oversized sweater also offers a (slight) shape. I especially like cropped sweaters because I can also wear it tucked in without being lumpy.
Adding slightly slouched high waisted trousers to the look makes it perfect for day, night or even work. I’ve dressed this look up with heeled booties (or in heeled sandals for a night out) but it can also be dressed down in platform sneakers or chelsea boots. I wanted a pattern that would play off the vibrancy of this sweater so I wore trousers with a houndstooth print but it would look just as great with a solid colored pair. As my style has changed over the years, I’ve started to shop for items that can be worn in multiple seasons and settings and these trousers certainly pass that test from day to night winter to summer and work to play.
