When I think of my wardrobe staples, I definitely include a faux leather skirt. They are timeless and can be worn both day and night aka day to night for those of us that like to keep the wardrobe change simple. Plus, the vibes of a leather skirt can easily and effortlessly evolve from dressy to edgy which means you can style it in several ways and get more wear for your money. 🙂 Keep scrolling to see how I styled my faux leather skirts and some of my favorite street-styled looks.
Keepin it classy
I wore this look for a fun Christmas event with my husband and another couple. It was a double date night in the City but we were also going out to a Christmas themed pop-up bar so I wanted to get dressy and stay warm while being comfortable. I immediately grabbed this leather skirt which I knew would complement a ruffled and patterned top well because it is a flat leather with no texture. Also, the slight A-line fit really cleans up the look with a cinched waist and comfortable fit around the hips. I would (and probably will) wear this skirt with an even dressier satin top, super sheer tights like these or these, and a pair of pumps when the weather warms up. And by simply adding a leather jacket, the entire look can be street style edgy chic. My lippie choice to keep it sexy yet not too bold was Trust Issues which is a dusty, deep purplish shade.
Shope leather skirts!
This top is no longer available, but these OTK boots are and they are definitely one of my go-to fall/winter/ spring boots.
Bring on the edge
I put together a much edgier look in a different H&M skirt. While it’s still a soft leather, this skirt has a lot more going on. There’s texture with the quilted pattern on the leather, a functional diagonal front zipper and two buckles at the waist so I bought this with the intention of styling it as an edgy look. To complement the chick grunge and highlight the silver hardware of the skirt, I wore a bold necklace of overlapping silver discs and I love a good red so of course, I threw on my go-to lippie (color: American Doll). These OTK boots are the same as the previous look above. Because it’s a shorter square heel, it can be dressed up and down and comfortable for a long period of time.
I wore this look to brunch and daytime bar hopping. I would also wear it to a concert and add some fishnet tights.
Street Style Looks

I specifically chose these looks to share more examples of how versatile a leather skirt can be. All the looks are simple and yet, still make a statement. The tops are all pretty casual and loose fitting and whether worn with sneakers, heel, a leather jacket or a blazer, it maintains a clean well-styled look.
